Sean Hanafin

Sean has spent the majority of his 30-year banking and finance career at Citi, where he was most recently Managing Director and Head of EMEA Energy, Power & Natural Resources Corporate Banking.  He has also served as European Head of Corporate Banking at Standard Chartered Bank and is currently CEO of Silver Birch Finance, a private equity-backed structured finance business, headquartered in London.

Sean has extensive experience in climate finance and has served as a member of the UK Government’s Green Investment Bank Commission, which led to the creation of the first Green Bank globally.  He is a Senior Advisor to both the Green Finance Institute, established by the UK Government and the City of London, and the Climate Bond Initiative, a leading climate finance NGO.  Sean is a Fellow of the Association of Corporate Treasurers and holds an MBA in Finance and BSc (Joint Hons) in Economics & Politics from the University of Warwick.
