Richard Riley headshot

Richard brings with him a broad experience of the power sector, covering the lifecycle of commercial projects from design through to operation, and R&D and commercialization of novel energy technology. His primary motivation is to help turn impactful ideas to practical realities that mitigate climate change and other mounting environmental challenges.

Richard started his career as an engineer with Electricité de France (EDF), where he was involved in maintenance and upgrades of France’s existing nuclear fleet and the engineering and construction of EPR reactors in France and the UK. Prior to his current position at NER, Richard was focused on the commercialization of novel liquid air energy storage technology at Highview Power, performing roles in innovation, engineering, project management, project development and commercial management.

Richard holds a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with French from the University of Sheffield and is a Chartered Engineer with the UK’s Institution of Mechanical Engineers.

To unwind, Richard likes to escape the city for the great outdoors. He is a keen hiker and cyclist, on-road and off.
