




Pragya Jain
Actuarial Data Scientist
Pragya joined New Energy Risk in June 2021 as actuarial data scientist. She is responsible for building risk pricing models, performing statistical analysis, Monte Carlo simulation modeling, managing analytical tools, and supporting diligence efforts.
Prior to her current position, Pragya worked for Bharti AXA General Insurance, India. She led development of pricing models and prepared technical reports for the regulator to facilitate the launch of new insurance products across diverse lines of business. Pragya also worked extensively on policy-claims data management and product design review. At Munich RE, she modeled reinsurance pricing contracts for South-Asian markets and assisted in an insurance fraud detection initiative with Cigna.
Pragya is an associate of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, UK. She received her MA in statistics and data science from Carnegie Mellon University, where she focused on predictive modeling, statistical machine learning, and time series analysis. As her capstone project, she helped NPD Group build automatic anomaly detection processes using unsupervised learning methods for incoming retail datasets. She earned her BE in instrumentation and control engineering from Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology, University of Delhi.
Outside of work, Pragya enjoys traveling, Indian cuisine, urban gardening projects, and spending time with family.
