Business Development Intern
Posting Date: March 2023
Schedule: Full Time
Location: San Francisco Bay Area, CA
Position Summary
Project development in renewable energy and alternative fuels can be difficult for many reasons. Even with recent policy tailwinds, the industry faces many barriers to meet atmospheric warming targets set in Paris and subsequent world conferences. New Energy Risk (NER) helps solve these global challenges at an industrial scale to accelerate project development. Our clients are technology and project developers seeking capital to commercialize their novel, energy-transition positive technologies.
NER is seeking a curious, self-starting student or young professional who can work both independently and collaboratively. This role requires comfort with extensive multi-tasking, critical attention to detail, an analytical mindset, and social intelligence with superlative communication skills on the phone, over video, and in person.
Since NER’s business is at the nexus of finance, technology innovation, and industrial project development, ideal candidates will be interested in developing a multi-disciplinary career and already be passionate about the energy transition. Preferably, candidates will have some familiarity with technology, commercial and industry trends in NER’s core segments: bioeconomy, waste to energy, energy storage, and energy efficiency.
This role offers a platform for professional development with exposure to NER’s engaged pipeline and opportunities to learn about various emerging technologies, project development, structured financing, and the insurance industry. The intern will report to business development leaders and work closely with the entire NER team to promote cross-functional learning, product development and transaction execution.
By analyzing business models and transactions, and meeting with NER’s vast network of projects and industry partners, the intern will develop and deliver a thesis on the factors affecting rapid project deployment today. They will present their findings to the company at the conclusion of the internship using a format of their choosing.
